Winter Blues
I think I’ve got the winter blues. It’s freezing in my apartment, I just ate an indecent amount of Chinese takeout, I don’t feel like going to the gym (although it will probably lift my mood) or the office (although I have to) and I can’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing than hanging with one particular person who happens to not be around.

It began on Tuesday, when international stock markets plunged due to the global lack of confidence in the US economy. Investors worry that the imminent recession in the US will drag down growth in the rest of the world. So they sold off their stocks.

The worldwide ongoing debate on what makes one attractive to the opposite sex continued tonight over fried cheeseballs, saffron orecchiette with crisp prosciutto, and sauteed monkfish at Gusto. I think every single male I know is watching football, eating wings, and screaming inanely at various television screens across the city right now. Every single male. Meanwhile, the girls I’ve spoken to today are (a) contemplating a spa day, (b) wanting to go see 27 Dresses, (c) getting a manicure, (d) reading Why Men Love Bitches (ha!!), and (e) writing (that would be me).

Movie Theatre Popcorn--Never Again.
I just got home from seeing Juno at the local movie theatre on 23rd Street around the corner from my apartment. Out of idle curiosity, I googled “how many calories in a large tub of movie theatre popcorn.” The answer? 1200-1600 CALORIES AND, LIKE, A GAZILLION GRAMS OF FAT!!!! That is pure evil!! It’s equivalent to three full meals! I am never going near the stuff again. EW.
