Winter Blues
I think I’ve got the winter blues. It’s freezing in my apartment, I just ate an indecent amount of Chinese takeout, I don’t feel like going to the gym (although it will probably lift my mood) or the office (although I have to) and I can’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing than hanging with one particular person who happens to not be around.
A Random Call
A guy that I met in Argentina called me two nights ago. He was in BA with a big group of friends and had just graduated from NYU’s business grad program (Stern, I think?) and the girls and I ended up hanging out with the lot of them all night (funny how Americans in foreign countries always form an instant bond regardless of whether or not they would ever have anything in common or hang out...

What Happened to the Markets This Week?!
It began on Tuesday, when international stock markets plunged due to the global lack of confidence in the US economy. Investors worry that the imminent recession in the US will drag down growth in the rest of the world. So they sold off their stocks.
The Japanese market dropped 5.7%
The Australian market dropped 7.1%
The Shanghai market lost 7.2%
The Hong Kong market dropped 8.7%

Matters of Opinion
The worldwide ongoing debate on what makes one attractive to the opposite sex continued tonight over fried cheeseballs, saffron orecchiette with crisp prosciutto, and sauteed monkfish at Gusto. The scene? An intimate candlelit dinner with two old friends and colleagues, Karen and Justin. I won’t bore you with the minute details, but I will offer a few choice snippets of conversation:
Karen:...

Game Day
I think every single male I know is watching football, eating wings, and screaming inanely at various television screens across the city right now. Every single male. Meanwhile, the girls I’ve spoken to today are (a) contemplating a spa day, (b) wanting to go see 27 Dresses, (c) getting a manicure, (d) reading Why Men Love Bitches (ha!!), and (e) writing (that would be me).
Ah, the oceans...

Movie Theatre Popcorn--Never Again.
I just got home from seeing Juno at the local movie theatre on 23rd Street around the corner from my apartment. Out of idle curiosity, I googled “how many calories in a large tub of movie theatre popcorn.” The answer? 1200-1600 CALORIES AND, LIKE, A GAZILLION GRAMS OF FAT!!!! That is pure evil!! It’s equivalent to three full meals! I am never going near the stuff again. EW.
2008
For some reason, I have the best feeling about 2008. Since December, I’ve felt lighter, happier, more free, and more hopeful than I have in years. I’m entering this year with no baggage—nothing to get over, struggle with, or work through. So instead of focusing my energy on fixing flawed things in my life, I can focus on new, exciting possibilities that are both here in front of...
AL: But why him? Out of all of the others you've totally brushed off....for very good reason. Why are you giving in now? To him?
Me: Just a feeling.
I'M BACK!
Buenos Aires was amazing—one of the best vacations of my life. Lots of pictures to come tomorrow. Tonight, I’m going right to bed. xo
