J: So, how was the date?
Me: It was fun--we went to brunch, which turned into shopping, which turned into a movie, which turned into dinner, which turned into a long walk along the river, which turned into a nightcap at this little wine bar.
J: (rolls her eyes) You and your marathon dates. You didn't kiss him on the first date, did you?
Me: Well....it was really like five dates that just happened to be on the same day, so technically no.
Birthday Thoughts
My absolutely stellar 28th birthday party on Thursday night proved a few things:
1. I have REALLY amazing friends. Karcher, Tina, and Alex basically planned the entire thing from start to finish while I was in Paris. Alex hosted a VIP hour at her apartment for all of my closest friends, providing a limitless supply of alcohol and sushi. Tina fielded all the “Where’s the apartment,...
Foie Gras and Chocolate
I’ve had about 18 pieces of chocolate today. Unfortunately, that is in no way an exaggeration. Also, I can’t stop eating foie gras. I’ve ordered it at almost every single meal! I always thought I was against foie gras—the exploding force-fed goose thing and all. I hadn’t touched it in years before this week. Apparently, I’m now totally fine with it. Funny how a...
Relocation
I had dinner at Le Pre Verre in the Quartier Latin tonight. Driving over the bridge to get to the Rive Gauche from my hotel, I was literally awestruck by the beauty of Paris. This is the one and only city I’ve visited that I could actually see myself relocating to. I think that may have to be written into the life plan at some point. It would be utterly perfect to pick up and move here with...
City of Love
My friend Vicky and I had the following conversation via text message tonight:
Vicky: Hi—how’s Paris!
Me: So amazing. I want to move here.
Vicky: lol I figured you would say that. A romantic city for a hopeless romantic. Have fun and take lots of pics.
Am I viewed as a “hopeless romantic”?? That was the second time today someone pegged me that way. The first came from a...
L Train?
Me: So I'm thinking about a new neighborhood...
J: Where?
Me: South Williamsburg.
J: What?! Why? We'll never see you again!
Me: Because I'm on page 34 of a book I bought two months ago.
J: So?
Me: So I never thought I'd be that person. The person who buys books but doesn't have time to read them.
J: What does that have to do with South Williamsburg?
Me: It's calmer there. It's quieter and more open. Maybe it'll give me space and time and room to breath. I think I need a little more peace.
J: You're having a birthday crisis. Step away from the ledge.
Me: Um. I'm not near a ledge.
J: You're considering leaving Manhattan. I call that a ledge.

A Question
Sometimes I pause and ask myself, “Would 13-year-old me be proud of who 27-year-old me has turned out to be? How about 14-year old me—would she be proud? How about 15? 18?”
Sometimes the answer is, “No.”
Do you ever do that?
Just Sayin'
If I hear one more word about the mind-numbing, sensationalized Spitzer scandal, I will scream. The man’s obviously not a particularly moral person—what he did is a huge deal and I would never say otherwise. But why is the public so fascinated with the prostitute?? Suddenly everyone wants to know everything about her, they want to listen to her horrific music, delve into her childhood,...
Stellar Friday Was a One-Hit Wonder
Update on the two quotes posted below: Stellar Friday quickly morphed into Super Messy And Not Stellar At All Friday, which turned into a huge breakfast of a Murray’s everything bagel with lox cream cheese and tomatos, a bialy with plain cream cheese (yes, I ate both in one sitting), and about ten cups of water. I am now crawling back into bed for another nap before Jessica’s...

Girl's Night In
It’s 1 a.m. and I just got home from a fun night in. One of my BFF’s, Tina, cooked me dinner tonight. I went over to her EV apartment with my little dog Suz wearing beat-up Chucks and an old fisherman’s sweater. Waiting for me was:
Sauteed chicken with onions and mushrooms
Steamed broccoli with cheese
Baby carrots with garlic hummus
Sparkling Perrier
I sorely needed a...
