Just got home from a sweltering afternoon at the Union Square farmer’s market. What I brought home to compose a dinner with tonight:

- fresh green lettuce
- heritage bacon
- San Francisco sourdough bread
- Pecorino Romano cheese
- spicy basil
- one long red hot chili pepper
- one head of special garlic
- a small apple pie
- the flowers pictured above
