1. I visited the City Reliquary Museum (370 Metropolitan Avenue, Williamsburg, Brooklyn) on Saturday. It’s a charming, tiny space filled with old bits of New York, including the first-ever MetroCard, old coins, an ancient shovel, soil from various spots in the city, an old fireman’s hat, and tokens from long-gone peep shows. The proprietors gave us a warm welcome, then proceeded to sit outside next to one another and quietly read books the whole time we were looking around. It reminded me of grandparents on a porch—that’s true companionship.
