This is an extremely small portion of my mother’s vast, tropical garden behind our house. No joke, the woman must have upwards of 50 potted plants and at least 15 in-ground trees, bushes, etc. If the apocalypse happened now and the survivors were responsible for reinhabiting the earth with precious vegetation, you would want my mother there, trust me. She could make something grow out of a rock if she really wanted to.
Obviously, I didn’t inherit certain talents from her such as gardening (I have a decidedly brown thumb—the longest I’ve kept a houseplant alive was two months) and cooking from instinct (although I am an excellent and enthusiastic follower of recipes).
